Alice Diary - Day 4

Day 4 - Bull Ring..

The demand - "Breakfast at Toddy's" - is slowing down. The Bulls have had there fair share of meat over the last few days and are starting to suffer for it. Requests for fruit and cereals are now common place. The hardened few still insist on their bacon and eggs but their numbers are thinning..

Today's game is at 1:00pm against the Weasels, the Bulls form their alcohol free bull ring and discuss the plans for the day. Coach Watts is keeping his cards close to his chest and not giving up any information on the line up. Several have assumed that efforts of the previous day will keep them out of the side and are making plans accordingly (some will have their plans rudely changed by Coach Watts)..

We headed to the ground about midday. The first thing Invisa-bull noticed was that it was hot very hot. Today's warm up was completed with out incident or injury. Coach Watts decided that 'effigy burning' had not helped the side so he did away with that ceremony. He announced the starting line and a very surprised Ron "Rocket" Taylor was to be our starter..

Bulls batted first. Froggy hit into a 6-3, Texta hit a stand up single to right and advanced on a Responsor walk. Untama hit a grounder through short. Rocket hit a line drive to right, scoring Responsor and advancing Norm. Networka hit to right to score Untama. Ger-Bull grounded into a feiders choice..

Middle of 1st, Bulls up 2-0..

Rocket pitched very well in the first, and was well supported by his field, giving up only the one run..

End of the 1st, Bulls up 2-1..

The Bulls second dig started well with Slida-bull/Defenda-Bull hitting a stand up double to centre. It went pear shaped after that. Slida-Bull, was tagged out at third "trying to protect the runner going to first". Frogg the hit a pop fly to short who took the catch and then through Erecta out at first. Innings over..

Middle of 2nd, Bulls up 2-1.

Weasels returned the compliment with a three up, three down. Rocket was pitching very well..

End of the 2nd, Bulls still up 2-1..

The top of the third and the Bulls continued to bat well. A further two runs were added by hits to Texta-Bull and Untama-Bull. Ger-Bull also contributed by serving a pitch to right field for a safe hit..

Middle of the 3rd, Bulls still up 4-1..

Rocket while still pitching well, was starting to tire and gave up 4 runs. A couple of fielding mistakes also didn't help the cause..

End of the 3rd, Bulls down 5-4..

Our fourth innings produced one hit (Texta-Bull) but no runs..

Middle of the 4th Bulls down 5-4..

Bob (Indestructa-bull) Booker pitched the 4 innings. He hit the first batter, walked the second, gave up a hit then found his radar and closed out the innings, but not before giving up 3 runs..

End of the 4th, Bulls down 8-4..

The fifth innings produce yet another serve to right field by the Ger-Bull and hits to Martin and Kuring. Unfortunately we were not able to convert the hits to runs..

Middle of the 5th, Bulls down 8-4..

Vino-Bull pitched the last dig with those wascally weasels edging further ahead with another 5 runs..

Game over, Bulls down 13-4..

  1 2 3 4 5 6 R H E
Bulls 2 0 2 0 - - 4 5 2
Weasels 5 5 3 x - - 13 7 1

The Bulls sauntered back to the bull ring and happily settled into their routine, strategising and consuming. We continued strategising until the early evening, then de-camped to Toddy's Bar and Grill for a meal and entertainment. After which the bull ring reformed and stayed in place until the early hours until a couple of complaints pushed the last of the bulls into bed..

Coach Watts said "Bull-scot (the Bulls stuff toy mascot) is appropriate - it has no balls and a ring through its nose…".
